Who is there to support me through a clinical trial?
When you join a clinical trial with Clerkenwell Health, you’re not doing it alone. You’ll be supported by a trained, multidisciplinary team whose role is to guide you through every stage of the process — from your first conversation to your final follow-up visit.
Here’s who will be with you along the way.
Your clinical team
You’ll work closely with clinicians who specialise in mental-health research and the condition being studied. This may include:
Psychiatrists or physicians, who oversee your medical safety
Clinical psychologists or therapists, who support your emotional wellbeing and guide you through therapeutic elements of the trial
Nurses and health professionals, who carry out assessments and check-ins
Your clinical team ensures that you feel safe, informed and cared for at every stage.
Your study coordinator
Study coordinators are often your main point of contact. They help you navigate appointments, answer practical questions, and make sure you always know what to expect next. If anything feels unclear or you need support between visits, they are there to help.
Specialist support staff
Depending on the study, you may also meet:
Support therapists who provide grounding, preparation and integration
Monitoring staff who track your progress and wellbeing
Pharmacists or medical technicians who manage the investigational treatment
Everyone involved is trained in research protocols and participant care.
NHS and partner-site clinicians
Some trials take place in NHS-embedded research sites, such as Clerkenwell’s Doncaster partnership. These locations are staffed by experienced NHS clinicians who work closely with Clerkenwell’s research team to deliver safe, high-quality care.
You are always supported
No matter which study you join, you’ll have a dedicated team looking after you — people who understand the science, the process and the human experience of taking part in research.
Their role is simple:
To keep you safe, help you feel prepared, and support you through every step of your journey.
You’ll never be left to navigate a trial on your own. If you have questions, worries or moments of uncertainty, there will always be someone there to talk to.
